The USGS is a primary Federal source of science-based information on ecosystems, land use, energy and mineral resources, natural hazards, water use, and availability, and updated maps and images of the Earth’s features available to the public.

The U.S. Geological Survey works with many partners to provide objective and impartial science. 


The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) is the leading voice of the mineral exploration and development community, currently representing over 8,000 members around the world and supporting a competitive, responsible, and sustainable mineral sector.

The association supports the implementation of best practices for meeting technical, operational, environmental, safety, and social requirements. 



The Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF) supports its more than 80 member countries in advancing their sustainable development goals through effective laws, policies, and regulations for the mining sector.

IGF helps governments take action to develop inclusive and gender-equitable practices, optimise financial benefits, and safeguard the environment. Its work covers the full mining life cycle, from exploration to mine closure, and projects of all sizes.

Since 2019 Georgia has become a member of the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals, and Sustainable Development (IGF).

Elaboration of Mining Code

In cooperation with UNDP and with financial support, drafting on the regulation of the legal framework for the mineral sector was resumed, which envisages the elaboration of the mining code based on the best international practices and approaches. Together with the experts hired within donor support, at the agency, work on the preparation of a project of the mining code is actively ongoing.
